Campaign Rules & Guidelines

Campaign Rules & Guidelines

Who May Start a Campaign?

Individuals, families, community groups, organizations, entrepreneurs, creators, and other eligible users may submit campaigns for consideration.

Campaigns may be created for a wide range of legitimate needs and causes.

Every campaign must be truthful, lawful, and created for the purpose represented to donors.

Examples of Campaigns We Allow

Eligible campaigns may include, but are not limited to:

  • Personal or family financial hardship

  • Emergency assistance

  • Housing or homelessness prevention

  • Food and essential household needs

  • Utility assistance

  • Transportation emergencies

  • Education and tuition-related needs

  • Youth programs and enrichment

  • Career and workforce training

  • Community projects

  • Neighborhood improvement projects

  • Documentaries and independent media

  • Arts and cultural projects

  • Genealogy, history, and heritage preservation

  • Funeral and memorial expenses

  • Legal-related expenses and access-to-justice costs

  • Small-business and entrepreneurial projects

  • Disaster recovery

  • Senior and disability support

  • Sports and extracurricular activities

  • Community events

  • Nonprofit and charitable projects

  • Other legitimate personal or community needs approved by the platform

A person experiencing financial hardship does not have to represent an organization in order to create an eligible personal fundraising campaign.

Campaigns Must Be Truthful

Campaign Organizers must accurately describe:

  • Who the campaign is for

  • Why money is being requested

  • How funds are expected to be used

  • The relationship between the organizer and beneficiary, when applicable

Campaign Organizers may not intentionally exaggerate, fabricate, conceal, or misrepresent material information in order to obtain donations.

Proof & Verification

Nativa Alliance Community Action may request supporting information when reasonably necessary to verify a campaign.

Depending on the campaign, verification may include documents confirming identity, expenses, circumstances, ownership, organizational status, or the relationship between the Campaign Organizer and beneficiary.

The amount of verification required may vary depending on the nature of the campaign.

Prohibited Campaigns

Campaigns may not be created for:

  • Fraudulent or intentionally misleading purposes

  • Illegal activities

  • Scams or deceptive fundraising

  • Identity theft

  • Unauthorized use of another person’s identity

  • Threats, harassment, or targeted intimidation

  • Hate-based activity

  • Illegal weapons or prohibited goods

  • Illegal drugs or unlawful controlled substances

  • Human trafficking or exploitation

  • Sexually exploitative or unlawful adult activity

  • Money laundering

  • Ponzi schemes or similar fraudulent financial arrangements

  • Campaigns promising donors an investment return, ownership interest, profit, or financial security unless specifically authorized through a legally compliant program

  • Any activity prohibited by applicable law or the applicable payment processor

Political Campaign Fundraising

Community advocacy and civic-action projects may be considered.

However, fundraising regulated as contributions to political candidates, political committees, campaigns for public office, or other activity governed by campaign-finance laws may require separate approval and compliance procedures and may not be conducted through the general community-fundraising platform unless specifically authorized.

Responsibility of the Campaign Organizer

The Campaign Organizer is responsible for:

  • Providing accurate information

  • Obtaining permission to use photographs, names, documents, or other materials

  • Using funds for the purpose represented to donors

  • Providing accurate beneficiary information

  • Responding to reasonable verification requests

  • Keeping contact and payout information current

  • Complying with applicable laws and regulations

The Campaign Organizer remains responsible for statements made in the campaign.

Campaign Review

Submission of a campaign does not guarantee publication.

Nativa Alliance Community Action reserves the right to review campaigns before or after publication.

We may request changes, additional information, identification, or supporting documentation before approving or continuing to host a campaign.

Suspension or Removal

A campaign may be suspended, restricted, or removed if we reasonably believe that it:

  • Contains false or misleading information

  • Violates these guidelines

  • Violates applicable law

  • Creates a fraud or payment risk

  • Misuses another person’s identity or information

  • Generates credible complaints requiring investigation

  • Violates payment-processor requirements

  • Presents another significant platform or public-safety concern

Removal of a campaign does not automatically determine ownership of disputed funds. Funds may remain subject to payment-processor procedures, refunds, chargebacks, legal requirements, or additional review.

Donations & Campaign Goals

Unless otherwise stated for a particular campaign, reaching the stated fundraising goal is not required before eligible net proceeds may be paid out.

Campaign goals are fundraising targets and are not guarantees.

Platform Fees

Campaigns hosted through Nativa Alliance Community Action are subject to a 5% platform and hosting fee, plus applicable third-party payment-processing fees.

Campaign Organizers should review the separate Campaign Disclosure, Fees & Payouts Policy before starting a campaign.

Agreement to the Rules

By submitting a campaign, the Campaign Organizer confirms that:

  • The information provided is truthful

  • They have authority to create the campaign

  • They agree to these Campaign Rules & Guidelines

  • They agree to the Campaign Disclosure, Fees & Payouts Policy

  • They understand that campaigns may be reviewed, suspended, or removed for violations

Campaign Organizers may be required to check an acknowledgment box confirming agreement before a campaign is submitted or published.
