Refunds, Disputes & Chargebacks

Nativa Alliance Community Action understands that questions may arise about donations, refunds, payment disputes, and unauthorized transactions.

This page explains how those situations may affect donors and campaign organizers.

Donation Refunds

Donations are generally made voluntarily to support a selected campaign.

Refund requests may be reviewed based on:

  • The reason for the request

  • The status of the campaign

  • Whether funds have already been transferred

  • Payment-processing requirements

  • Applicable platform policies

Approval of a refund is not guaranteed.

Unauthorized Transactions

If you believe a donation was made without your permission, contact your bank, card issuer, payment provider, and Nativa Alliance Community Action as soon as possible.

Additional information may be requested to review the transaction.

What Is a Chargeback?

A chargeback occurs when a donor disputes a payment through their bank or card provider.

The financial institution may temporarily or permanently reverse the transaction while the dispute is reviewed.

How Chargebacks Affect Campaigns

If a donation is disputed, reversed, or charged back, the amount may be deducted from:

  • The campaign’s available balance

  • Pending campaign funds

  • Future campaign proceeds

If the campaign balance is not sufficient, additional action may be required depending on the payment-processing provider.

Processing Fees

Certain payment-processing fees may not be refundable after a transaction has been completed.

Any nonrefundable processing costs may be handled according to the rules of the applicable payment processor.

Campaign Organizer Responsibilities

Campaign organizers are responsible for maintaining accurate campaign information and responding to reasonable questions related to disputed transactions.

Nativa Alliance Community Action may request supporting information when reviewing a dispute.

Campaign Misrepresentation

If a donor believes a campaign contains false, misleading, or fraudulent information, the campaign may be reported for review.

Nativa Alliance Community Action may review the campaign, request additional information, restrict certain features, or take other appropriate action.

Duplicate Donations

If a donor accidentally submits the same donation more than once, the donor should contact Nativa Alliance Community Action as soon as possible.

The transaction may be reviewed to determine whether a correction or refund is appropriate.

Refund Timing

If a refund is approved, the time required for the funds to appear in the donor’s account may depend on the payment processor, card issuer, or financial institution.

Promotional Fees

Fees paid for optional campaign promotion, featured placement, or advertising services may be subject to separate refund terms.

Promotional services that have already started or been provided may be nonrefundable.
